Sampling Video and Reference Guide Project is Almost Complete

10/16/2018 11:52 AM

Last month, the CCREF was on location at the Prince George County Organics Compost Facility in Maryland filming for the upcoming Compost Sampling Video Production Project. The aim of the Compost Sampling Video Production Project is to address the need for proper training in the taking and preparation of compost samples for laboratory analysis. The CCREF contracted with Northern Tilth to develop a script based on the Test Methods for the Examination of Composting and Compost. 02.01 Field Sampling of Compost Materials. In addition to the sampling videos, a reference guide is being created as an additional educational tool.

CCREF contracted with Maryland-based video production company Next American Films to bring the script of Northern Tilth, written by Andrew Carpenter, to life. The instructional footage and live action demonstrations shot over a three-day shoot is currently being edited into a two-part video series that will educate composters on how to effectively and accurately take samples of finished compost and also samples of an active heterogeneous stockpile or windrow.

Both videos and reference guide will be available on the CCREF website sometime during the month of December.
